EAR CANDLING/CONING

THE ANCIENT PRACTICE OF CANDLING/CONING

Ear candling or Coning as it is sometimes known, has been around for centuries. It dates back as far as biblical times when hallow reeds from swamps areas were used. It has been passed down for many generations by the Egyptians, the Oriental and European cultures, but is almost unknown today. The process of candling had been basically lost for many years but has come back into practice again and is being used by a wide cross section of people.  These ancient cultures used coning as a means of spiritual detoxification.  It was believed that coning would draw out negative thoughts and energies through the ears and into the cone which, while burning, would cleanse these energies and return them to a purified state.

Coning/Ear candling is a simple effective home remedy for removing excess wax, infections and residuals of infections. A hollow candle with a tapered end, which resembles a cone or a straw coated with a special wax is placed on the edge of a person’s ear and lit. The heat from the flame creates a vacuum in the ear and pulls out excess wax build up, fungus, bacteria, yeast/candida, ear mites, worms or parasites into the hollow end that is on the ear edge. It may also draw fluids from the ear, sinuses and lymph glands.

There is no discomfort to the person receiving the Candling, and it is merely used as a Home Remedy for your better health, it is not intended to be used for medical purpose or in place of medical attention.

EAR CANDLING/CONING PROCEDURE

The individual is reclined at a 45 degree angle with their head turned towards the opposite shoulder.  If individuals prefer to lie on their sides in fetal position with their hands cupped underneath their cheek, this could be comfortable as well.  Just remember to place a pillow between their knees for added comfort to their lower back.

Cover the individuals hair and side of face with a clean towel, remember to leave the ear exposed.  Then place the metal pie plate that has been punched with a hole for the candle/cone to be inserted through the hole into the ear.  The candle should be inserted into the ear to a point where the client is comfortable.  Make sure the candle is pointing over the shoulder and at a 45 degree angle.

Carefully light the wick of the candle and monitor it as it burns.  With a pair of scissors, carefully cut the burning wick in the middle of where the wick has turned black and the flame.  Make sure you place a bowl of water close by to extinguish and place the pieces of burned wick you have cut.  Continue to monitor and cut until you reach to about 1/3 the size of the candle.   Then pull the candle out with the scissors and extinguish the candle.  Sometimes 2 candles can be used for 1 ear.  Then proceed to the other ear and repeat the same prep work for the second ear.  This candling experience can run anywhere from 30 minutes to 45 minutes.

Sometimes people request to see how much wax has been removed from their ears.  You can do this upon their request by carefully cutting the candle open.  Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after you finish any procedure.

Place some cotton in your ears to protect your ears from the wind, dust, etc, until their ears build up the natural wax.  Some individuals have said they can hear more clearly and things seemed louder.  Many individuals has expressed a sense of well-being and total relaxation throughout the session, others would simply like to chat throughout the session.  Every experience is different.
